Element of Design: Line

Vertical Line

Kitchen

I chose this for vertical lines because it shows all of the lines going in a vertical direction.  It also suggests that action takes place in this room because that is the position people take for walking.  The feeling this line gives you is movement it feels like something is going to take place.

Horizontal Line

Nilo home office

I chose this for horizontal lines because it has almost all of the lines going into a horizontal placement.  The room suggests rest or repose because that is the position people take while resting.  So the feeling would be relaxing for this room.

Curved Lines

Pebbles

This board I chose for curved lines because it has different directions that the lines are takin place in.  The room has feeling and it shows excitment in differnet ways.

Diagonal Lines

Winter Green & Mandarin

This room shows diagonal lines because it has a feeling of excitment and different directions of lines.  Yours eyes don't just look at one thing in the room your eyes want to see everything in this room.  This room also shows a poistion of movement that people take for running.

Color Forecast

Color Forecast

New color trends this year are: acid yellow, acid green, blue, pink, red, violet, orange, gray, camel, chocolate brown, mocha, cinnamon, and soft grays.  The reason these colors are the new color trend this year is because it has a confortable and soft feeling to them.  The netural colors make you feel relaxed.  This olioboard fits into the color trends this year because its has the netural colors with some blues and a pop of yellow with green.  I used the triadic color scheme but instead of orange I used a acud yellow because it fits in with the room better.

Color Schemes

Monochromatic
Color Scheme

Cadabra Family Bedroom

The Cadabra family wanted a master bedroom for the parents.  They love bright colors so I took different hues of orange with white and made the room pop.

Analogous Color Scheme

Cadabra Family dining

Cadabra family wants a dining area with bright fun colors.  I did a analogous color scheme and used orange, yellow, and red.  I also used different hues of these three colors to make the room stand out.  Now your eyes want to see everthing in the room not just focus on one thing.

Complementary Color Schemes

movie\theater

Cadabra family wanted a theater room where they could relax and watch movies together.  A complementary color scheme was used to make the room seem relaxing but yet want to make you feel happy and like you have energy.  I used blues and oranges to make this room feel that way.

Triadic

Cadabra music room

For the Cadabra's music room is used a triadic color scheme.  For this color scheme I used green, yellow, and orange, since the family loves bright colors.  They will now be able to relax and listen to music in this new room.
